  • Why is First Aid training needed in 2006? 
  • There is approximatley one Cardiac Arrest every 13 minutes in the UK.
  • Over 50% of the 140,000 Heart Attack Victims that die each year (in the UK), do so before they get to hospital.
  • There are some 4000 accidental deaths in UK homes every year. 
  • 2.8 Million British people are injured in there own home every year.
  • Out of some 320,000 injuries occuring on British roads, 38,000 people are seriously injured and 3500 die - Yearly.
  • Some 130,000 people need treatment for Burns every year and 250 people die from their thermal injuries.
  • 4,000 people require treatment for Electrical injuries and some 50 people a year die from Electrocution.
  • Approximatley 500 people a year Drown. A large percentage of this figure are Children.
  • Approximately 50,000 people require treatment for poisoning or over-dose. Many are accidental incidents effecting children.
  • In the UK, over 1,000 people die every year from their Asthma.  
  • About 22 people a year die from (serious) Allergic reactions.
  • About 16000 people require treatment for Choking each year in the UK. Between 200-300 die.
